April 20 2013 - Gaby Talent Show at Lindero Middle School

Gaby sang in the talent show a song from Wicked. Unfortunately, the sound did not come out well during the time Ron videotaped the performance. Gaby had to sing the song at home and Ron did his best overlay the sound and the video. Gaby did an amazing job and got a lot of cheers from her friends.

June 22 2013 - June 25 2013 Copenhagen, Denmark

Finally we go to Europe! Marina turned 40 years old and this trip was her gift. We woke up at 2:00AM and flew at 6:00AM to New Jersey changed planes and flew to Copenhagen. We arrived early the next day and went to the hotel, which was outside the city. We bought a 72-hr Copenhagen Card and took the subway to the center. We walked through the Stroget and later took a Canal Tour and saw from the boat the major attractions.

The next day, we took a castle tour. This time we took the train to get to the center of the city. We almost missed the tour because we could not find the meeting place for this tour. They did not give us an exact address. Eventually, the bus driver found us after I got help from a 7/11 store employee who called the tour company. The first place we saw Kronborg Castle also known as Hamlet Castle. Then, we saw Fredensborg Castle, and Fredriksborg Castle. This entire tour was 6.5 hours. After the tour, we took a bus and went to see the Little Mermaid statue and Gefion Fountain. It was a long walk from the bus station and it was raining a little.

The third day we met with Larisa, Anat, and Evgeny. The first place we saw was the Marble Church followed by Amalienborg Palace and saw the changing of the guards. In the palace there was a small museum, which we saw as well. Then, we had lunch by the canal. The final attraction we went to visit was Tivoli gardens. Ron purchased a four passes and Marina and the girls went on many rides. The girls had a lot of fun. Evgeny decided to stay in hotel and join us to see Tivoli.

Ron organized the entire 3-day tour with maps and the entire trip was executed to perfection!

June 26 2013 Oslo, Norway

We bought an Oslo Card and then we walked to Akershus Castle, which was right next to the ship. Then, we decided to see the Nobel Peace Museum. It was around 1:00PM and then Evgeny demanded that Ron should take him back to the shop. Ron responded with a short Nyet! We continued walking to Oslo Palace to see changing of the guards and started to rain.

Then, we took a tram to see Vigeland Park. At this point it was pouring and it was difficult to spend additional time at the park. Also, Chechik really needed to go back to the ship since he was desperate for several shots of Whiskey. It could have been a more exciting day. Unfortunately, due to the rain and Evgeny nagging we did not to the see the Viking Museum.

We went to Aarhus, which is the second largest city in Denmark. We walked from the ship to the center of the city. We saw a canal and went to see a church called Von Frue Kirke. Afterwards we walked around the stores and went back to the ship. This port was the least interesting port.

On July 3rd, we went to Helsinki. We bought a pass to a Hop On Hop Off bus and stopped at the rock Church followed by Sibelius Park and Monument. Afterwards we took the bus to the center of the city. We saw Senate and Market Squares. Everything in the Market Square was very expensive so we decided to go back to the ship for lunch, which make Evgeny very very happy.

June 28 2013 Schwerin, Germany

We decided not take a tour from the ship and visit Schwerin Castle. We walked out of the ship for about five minutes and reached the train station. Ron bought in advance online the train tickets. We took one train to Rostock and changed another train that took us to Schwerin. We met Ron's cousin Raviv and his family. Incidentally, Raviv's son is named Yaron too! We met his wife Luise and daughter Romy. The girls got along great. Little Yaron like Kyra....a lot! and was talking to her in German and was chasing her. We saw Schwerin Castle, which was amazing. Then, we went to a local restaurant and had lunch (Schnitzel). It was nice to see my cousin, the last time I saw him was in 1981, which is 32 years ago. Then, we took the train back to the ship. Marina, Larisa and the girls did their march just like they saw at changing of the guards in Copenhagen.

We took a short ride from the ship to the old city. We walked towards the town square and on the way we bought spice sugared almonds. At the square, they had a market with various vendors selling souvenirs, clothes, and food. We continue to walk through the narrow cobble streets towards Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and Toompea. At lunch, we ate at local restaurant located at Town Square. Marina and Larisa drank a drink mixed with coffee and liquor (Vanna Tallinn). Ron had some spiked apple cider and Elk!. We enjoyed the ambiance of the old town while having our lunch. On the way to the ship, we bought some wild barriers and Vanna Tallinn. Marina insisted that Ron would take a photo with two attractive young local girls. Ron had no choice but to comply :-)

July 18 - July 21 2013 Visiting Lee & Gideon Senderov

We decided to visit Gideon and Lee. As usual, we decided to stop for the night at Pismo Beach. This time we had an extra passenger for this trip....Coconut decided that he deserves to go on vacation.  Spyglass Inn allowed dogs and even the restaurant allowed pets. Coconut joined us for dinner. Coconut was very excited to be with us in the room. He jumped on the bed and I think his poor little brain was about to explode from over excitement. The next day, we spent time at Carmel also known as "Doggie Heaven". All the stores have water and treats for the dogs. We had lunch at an area full of birds, Coconut was very busy observing them.  We went to the cheese specialty store and enjoyed some samples. Then, Finally Coconut implored to visit Diggidi Dog. Our next stop was Gideon and Lee. We had a nice Shabbat dinner. The next day all of us went hiking and toured Deer Hollow Farm. The girls loved the various animals. Gideon for some reason really like the cow, maybe he thought she was very sexy. Afterwards, we went to Palo Alto and had banana splits and sundaes in a nice diner. Finally, we went to visit Stanford University
